Dr Peter Goodfellow is a Science Advisor to Abingworth Life Sciences and is a Board Member of Prosensa Therapeutics BV. Peter has had a varied career that has spanned academia, biotechnology and the pharmaceutical industry. He studied genetics of human disease and sex determination at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund before becoming the Balfour Professor of Genetics at Cambridge University. In 1996, Peter joined SmithKline Beecham where he was appointed head of Discovery. After the merger that created GlaxoSmithKline, Peter was appointed Senior Vice President of Discovery Research. Since his retirement from GSK three years ago, Peter has continued his involvement with academia; he holds visiting Professorships with Kent University, University College London, Bristol University and Hong Kong University (Mok Hing-Liu Visiting Professor) and is a member of the Board of the Institute of Cancer Research. He advises several charities and is a Board member of the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign. Amongst other awards, Peter has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Society and has received the Louis Jeantet Prize.
