Professor Jacques van Boom (67) deceased

Leiden, The Netherlands, August 5, 2004 – We are deeply saddened by the sudden death of our scientific director and colleague Professor J. H. van Boom. After a short period of illness Jacques van Boom passed away July 31 2004.

Jacques van Boom is regarded as one of The Netherlands most esteemed and cited scientists with more than 750 publications. He was mainly involved in the development of technology for the synthesis of biopolymers such as glycosides, nucleic acids, and peptides. Furthermore, he was involved with several companies like Genentech, RIVM, and Organon.

Jacques will be missed as a warm-hearted, and motivating colleague. Our thoughts go out to those left behind.
